The National All American Committee includes the chair, a member of the Women’s Division High School Coaches Council and a national cross section of coaches selected by the National Coaches Council.

DEFINITION OF ELIGIBLE HEAD GIRLS COACH

The head varsity girl’s coach who is a current member of US Lacrosse by the April 1st deadline through post season play, is eligible to nominate players for All-American and Academic All-American honors.

Scholastic club head coaches can submit a petition to nominate players for All-American and Academic All-American honors. Scholastic head coaches must meet the same membership requirements as varsity head coaches.

Chapters can petition for scholastic clubs to be included in the count for determining All-American numbers.

Scholastic club players who have a varsity program at their school and do not play for that team are not eligible for All-American honors.

PROCESS FOR DETERMINING THE NUMBER OF ALL AMERICANS PER CHAPTER

 PLEASE NOTE:  NEW FOR 2010

1)      All-American numbers are determined based on the number of active Girl’s Head Varsity Coach membership within the chapter.

A)    For every 4 girl’s head varsity coach members within a chapter, the chapter is allotted 1 All- American selection. Example – 12 girl’s head varsity coach members equals 3 All American selections. 15 girl’s head varsity coach members would round up to 4 All American selections.

B)    The distribution of the chapter’s allotted All-American numbers into First Team or Honorable Mention is up to the Chapter All-American Committee based on the nominees qualifications. Example – a chapter that is allowed 4 All American selections may award 1 AA and 3 HM OR 2 AA and 2 HM etc…as long as the total does not exceed the allowable number.  Also, chapters do not need to award the total number allowed.   A chapter that is allowed 4 selections may award 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 awards.

2)      Girl’s Head Varsity Coaches much join renew on or before April 1st of each spring season so that their membership runs through the current girl’s high school lacrosse season including the post season.

A)    Example – a girl’s head varsity coach whose membership expires May 31st or earlier of the current season and the season ends in June must renew by the April 1st deadline. However, a coach in the same league whose membership expires June 30th or later is not required to renew in order to be counted in the determining of All-American numbers. *Note – this deadline also applies to coaches’ eligibility to nominate All-Americans and Academic All- Americans

Nomination Criteria
This US Lacrosse award recognizes the best varsity high school players in the United States. Though this award is given through the US Lacrosse Chapters, All-Americans selected in every chapter must be considered "the best in the United States", not just the best in the chapter. While the US Lacrosse Girls' High School All American Honors are selected by the Chapter All American Committee, the qualifications and quality of players must be consistent across the United States. The players selected are the best in the country as compared with each other, regardless of their region of the country (not just the best in each chapter). Many chapters will not use all of their possible selections in a given year and that is important in maintaining the integrity of this honor. In addition to exhibiting superior skills and techniques, exceptional game sense, good sportsmanship and outstanding knowledge of the game of lacrosse, every player who is nominated as a US Lacrosse Girls' High School All-American must also be considered an impact player on a Division I collegiate level team. Specifically, nominees must meet a minimum of 4 of the 7 criteria listed below and accumulate a total of penalty points that is less tahn or equal to 25% of the total number of games played during the season to be considered:

Players who are nominated for either Academic All-American or All-American recognition must accumulate a total of penalty points that is less than or equal to 25% of the total number of games played during that season. For each Yellow Card that a player receives during the season, that player is assigned one "Penalty Point". For each Red Card, a player is assigned two "Penalty Points". (Example: A girl plays in 20 games, she is allowed five points. Those points could come from five yellow cards or one red and three yellows. If another girl played in 24 games, she would be allowed six points, etc.)

selection committee members. Parents and players should never know who is or who is not pre-nominated.

B. A player who violates a player/coach written contract may be excluded from consideration. Any contract violations must be noted on the player’s final nomination form.

C. Coaches nominating multiple players must rank the players 1-N.  The committee may consider the coach’s rankings, but is not obligated to do so.

D. Post season play is calculated in a player’s total carding points. The AA committee should take this into consideration when determining their honorees. The selection meeting should either take place after the playoffs or one or more alternates should be selected in case of ineligibility. Coaches are responsible for updating all nominees’ penalty point totals once all season and post season games are completed.
